Graeme Chinnery - Claremont-Nedlands CC, PERTH, W.A.:chinnery_lg.jpg

When the Vintage Cricket Carnival took place in Perth, the Claremont-Nedlands Cricket Club were one of the 1st to offer to host teams and be part of the Carnival. Under the management of Graeme Chinnery, the club provided wonderful facilities and hospitality thoroughly enjoyed by visiting teams. Graeme commenced his illustrious cricket career in junior grade cricket in 1960 and has now played over 600 outdoor games and still manages 10 two day and 10 one day games per season. In 1964 Graeme was a member of a Western Australia Under 21 team that included Dennis Lillee, Bruce Yardley and Rod Marsh.

Graeme generally bats in the middle order and has scored in excess of 8,000 runs and as an into the wind opening bowler has taken over 1,200 wickets. As an administrator, Graeme has had an illustrious career and is currently involved as a Director of Claremont-Nedlands Cricket Club with responsibility for 4 grade sides, Colts, Masters and 46 junior sides. Graeme is Captain of the Masters side and if all that is not enough he is also a Director of Western Suburbs Cricket Club where he is Chairman of Board and the Selection Committee with responsibility for 9  grade sides and the Colts. Additionally Graeme is Captain of the Club 4th Eleven.

Well travelled, Graeme spent the 2006 season playing and coaching in England and now joins the Auckland University Fingletoads Chardonnays for the tour of Ireland, Shrewsbury and the Vintage Cricket Carnival in Stratford-upon-Avon. Graeme is a proud 5th generation Australian descendant of Thomas Chinnery, a convict sent to Australia in 1856 for setting fire to a barn in Essex-we don't know why yet - maybe the barn belonged to a cricket umpire who gave him out LBW - no doubt Graeme will explain over a Guinness on tour.
