Ricky Clarke - Wanderers CC, Barbados & Joel Garner - Barbados, Somerset, South Australia, West Indies
Our Vintage Cricket representative in the West Indies in Barbados, Ricky Clarke, was the local convenor of the Barbados Carnival in 2006. After his
first hand experience of Vintage Cricket he is hooked. Currently
putting together a team from Barbados to attend Startford-upon-Avon, Ricky has a wonderful history in
all sports having represented his school at Cricket, Hockey, Table
Tennis and Football.
His cricket career has included a long association with the
world-famous Wanderers Cricket Club in Barbados, playing and coaching
with Littleborough (England), Marcweil (Wales), Fyfeshire (Scotland)
and Instonians (Northern Ireland). This well-travelled cricketer and
coach now operates a very efficient sports tourism business in his
beloved Barbados.
Joel Garner has now taken part in two Vintage Cricket Carnivals
(Perth in 2005 and Barbados in 2006) and has indicated his desire to be
in Stratford-upon-Avon. World renowned as one of the all-time great
cricketers, Joel is an affable, relaxed ambassador for Vintage Cricket
who has enjoyed mixing and mingling with Carnival visitors whenever he
is able. Just to remind you, Joel took 259 Test wickets, 146 ODI
wickets and 881 1st class wickets. Along the way he managed to score
672 Test runs, 239 ODI runs and a creditable 2,964 1st Class runs.
Still fit and lively, Joel is a wonderful part of Vintage Cricket and
we look forward to his presence in Stratford-upon-Avon.
